Reporting on Regulation

Reporting on Regulation

Every two years, the OCBR surveys Victoria’s business regulators to build a profile of the regulatory landscape. The results are published in the Victorian Regulatory System (VRS). The next edition of the report is being prepared now and will be published later shortly. Previous reports published by the former Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission are available below.

The Victorian regulatory system has evolved over decades, reflecting the circumstances of different industries and occupations, the prevailing regulatory practice when the body was established, and different approaches to administration and enforcement adopted. This range of approaches presents an opportunity to learn from different experiences.

The OCBR welcomes suggestions from readers on any ways in which the VRS report could be made more useful or any other comments on its scope.  We greatly appreciate the efforts of the staff of the Victorian regulators who assist in the compilation of this report.
