Support and training for preparing a RIS or LIA
In 2019, OCBR is offering a free short course for Departmental and agency staff: Making better regulation in seven steps.
The course is delivered over two half-day sessions. OCBR staff will explain the "seven key questions" outlined in the Victorian Guide to Regulation. You will learn how to apply these to regulatory design projects, especially when preparing a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) or Legislative Impact Assessment (LIA).
The first session will run for approximately 2.5 hours. It covers defining a problem and developing a range of options to address it. The second session will run for approximately 3.5 hours. It covers analysing, selecting and planning to implement the preferred option.
The course is designed for all policy officers working on legislative or regulatory proposals. It is recommended for any officers who will be working directly on a RIS or LIA this year.
At the end of the course, you should expect to be ready to conduct or oversee a RIS or LIA project. You will have a better understanding of the key policy making steps and tools of regulatory decision-making.
The following sessions are confirmed and available for registration:
Further sessions will be offered in September and November 2019, with dates to be confirmed shortly.
By agreement, we can also tailor a course or workshop to your Department, agency or team's specific needs. Please contact us.
